Rulers of The Middle Ages Dynasties
- Han Dynasty: Fell in A.D. 220-China began warring states. Warlord took power.
- Sui Dynasty: Founded by Wendi in A.D.581. His son, Yangdi was a forceful ruler; therefore, the dynasty ended early.
- Tang Dynasty: Began in A.D. 618 by Yangdi's general. Under the Tang dynasty, there were many reforms: restoration of the civil service exam system, stabilization of the countryside, rearrangement of the military forces. The Tang dynasty were successful until the Turks weaken the Tang armies in A.D. 907.
- Song Dynasty ruled from A.D 960 to 1279.This period a time of prosperity and cultural achievement for China. However, Song rulers did not have enough soldiers to control their large empire. In addition, an enemy to the North had been building a vast army to invade; therefore, it collapsed.
- Yuan (Begining) Dynasty-This dynasty was ruled by the Mongolians in attempt to create a new "beginning" for China. However, this is not possible because they only lasted for 100 years. The Mongols were organized by clans and were known the ability to ride horses and ability to wage war. They are different from the Chinese because they have their own: language, laws and customs-separate. However, they did share one thing in common: the religion. Eventually the Chinese drove the Mongols out and a new dynasty arose.
- Ming (Brilliant) dynasty- Ruled by a rebel leader named Zhu Yuanzhang, the Ming dynasty Ming ruler strengthened China's government and brought back peace and prosperity. The officials used the census to help them collect taxes more accurately. The fall of Ming came because the Emperor has too much control and officials had little desire to make improvements. Therefore the dynasty weaken and greedy officials placed heavy taxes on peasants , who began to revolt. Law and order disappeared and the Manchus attacked China's northern border in 1644. They defeated Chinese armies, captured Beijing, and set up a new dynasty.
